Positive Affirmations for Stress Management

Posted by tapsihapsi - November 30th, 2011

Are you looking for some inside information on Stress Management? Here’s an up-to-date report from Stress Management experts who should know.

Stress management in life usually requires changes in the way you think. For people going through too much stress, maintaining a positive attitude can do a lot in helping deal with very difficult and trying circumstances. One way of trying to maintain a positive mindset is by using positive affirmations to influence the subconscious mind into thinking positive. Doing so would likely boost up one’s ability to handle and deal with stress.

Positive affirmation is a good way to try and change a mind accustomed to a negative thought process into a positive one. Every word that a person says and every thought made is an affirmation. Each affirmation conditions the mind and one’s way of thinking and acting. By carefully rethinking every affirmation into positive ones, a person can try to influence his or her mindset on the subconscious level to become positive.

Positive affirmations can greatly affect the way a person thinks. It is all made through the inner dialogue and self-talk that a person does to himself or herself. People go through a lot of self-talk for a variety of reasons. They want to affirm a certain idea to stick in their minds. Inner dialogue can help condition the mind to rethinking its beliefs. Self-talk can actually influence a person’s behavior and actions.

With this in mind, using positive affirmations largely consists of using self-talk and dialogue. Simply making positive statements and repeating it over and over again in one’s mind can be a way to influence one’s own thinking and life. By repeating positive affirmations over and over again, they will eventually seep into a person’s mindset, influence it and eventually determine how he or she would react to certain circumstances.

The best time to learn about Stress Management is before you’re in the thick of things. Wise readers will keep reading to earn some valuable Stress Management experience while it’s still free.

Using positive affirmations can actually help influence even a negative mindset. At first people who may use positive affirmations would think that it goes against their own set of beliefs and inner truths based on the inappropriate impressions that formed in their mind as they grow up. By using positive affirmations, the mind can gradually be taught or influenced to rethink its inner set of beliefs for a more positive one.

For a negative mindset, positive affirmations can be used as short positive statements that can be used to challenge an established but inappropriate set of beliefs. In can be compared to self-brainwashing, but the person has the option to choose which negative beliefs to replace. Using positive affirmations forces the mind to keep focused on positive truths that eventually will be accepted by the mind as its own. This would then later on affect a person’s behavior and actions.

Different people may need to use different positive affirmations in their lives. This would depend on their own situations and their levels of stress management. Developing a certain positive affirmation to live by would require looking into what one intends to develop and achieve in life. This requires further assessment and evaluation of one’s life to discover what things he or she considers as important and what end result he wishes to achieve.

Once an idea of what to strive and aim for is found, then one can be able to formulate a statement that would help condition your mind to reach for it. It can be a single or a few chosen statements. These statements should reflect the kind of reality that one wishes to create. The positive statements are then repeated through self talk regularly in order to reinforce it in the mind.

It would slowly seep in and eventually be accepted by the mind as its own truth.

There’s a lot to understand about Stress Management. We were able to provide you with some of the facts above, but there is still plenty more to write about in subsequent articles.

Emotional Intelligence And Its Link To Stress Management

Posted by tapsihapsi - November 29th, 2011

Do you ever feel like you know just enough about Stress Management to be dangerous? Let’s see if we can fill in some of the gaps with the latest info from Stress Management experts.

One of the most recent breakthroughs when it comes to stress management deal with emotional intelligence. It is therefore important to understand this concept and how you can utilize it to maximize stress relief results.

What is Emotional Intelligence?

Emotional intelligence is basically a type of skill that enables anyone to control their emotional state. For anyone dealing with stress, you are probably aware how emotions can worsen or relieve the stressful situation you are in. According to research studies, people who have managed to boost their emotional intelligence skills are better able to reduce stress levels in their lives.

Stress and Negative Emotions

Upon the onset of stress, the body undergoes various physiological changes that are later on manifested in physical form of symptoms of stress. But what is the ultimate source of stress that you are experiencing? Basically, it comes as a result of the negative emotions that is developing inside you. It comes as a result of the pressure that from your workplace, at home, or amongst your peers.

All of these emotions trigger biochemical events inside your body such that it is prompted to release cortisols or stress hormones, as well as adrenaline. The buildup of negative emotion can therefore either be a cause or effect of stress. Either way, it is unhealthy for you. In fact, it poses one at risk of developing serious conditions such as high blood pressure and an increase in heart rate. You can therefore get additional motivation to combat the signs of stress.

Enforcing Positive Emotions

Now that you realize the potential harm brought about by the presence of negative emotions in your life, it is important to transform them into something positive. This will serve to counteract the effects of negative emotion in your health and social relationships.

How can you put a limit on learning more? The next section may contain that one little bit of wisdom that changes everything.

You can do this by promoting positive emotions. While negative emotions can risk you of developing harmful health conditions, promoting positivity can boost the supply of DHEA or anti-aging hormone in your body. This is produced out of the same precursor that will respond to the emotional state of the body. So, whether you are suffering from a positive or negative emotion, it will its own corresponding effect on your physiological and emotional state.

Enhancing Emotional Intelligence Skills

Although the benefits of enhancing emotional intelligence in stress management has been established, actually doing this is a different thing altogether. This is challenging with the constant assault of stressors in one’s everyday life. Here are some techniques to help you boost emotional intelligence:

? Take time to establish direct awareness of your body parts each day. This will help establish more awareness about what you truly feel inside.

? Set aside time to meditate. You can develop high emotional intelligence with constant practice of meditation.

? Adapt a healthy diet and lifestyle. When you are physically healthy, it becomes easier to deal with your emotions.

? Write a journal. This is a great method for exploring your emotional state to see patterns and be able to have more control over how you feel.

Make sure you practice the above techniques often to boost your emotional intelligence skills and attain effective stress management ability.

I hope that reading the above information was both enjoyable and educational for you. Your learning process should be ongoing–the more you understand about any subject, the more you will be able to share with others.

Benton Henry of Latta, SC, Awarded Grant to Assist in the Publication of a Book on Tobacco Culture

Posted by tapsihapsi - November 27th, 2011

The South Carolina Arts Commission has awarded a grant to photographer Benton Henry to pursue the publication of a book uniting his photography of tobacco culture and the writings of Dr. Eldred “Wink” Prince. This new endeavor arose from the highly successful traveling photography exhibit, Tobacco Barns of the Pee Dee. The exhibit was featured in several cities throughout the Pee Dee in 2008-09.

The new project will explore in words and images the historical memory of the Pee Dee tobacco culture by those who lived it. “Wink and I are extremely excited to be working together again,” said Henry. “This is something that we have talked about for some time and it’s a great feeling to know that the Arts Commission supports our project.”

The images featured in the book will come from all over the Pee Dee and will showcase several aspects of tobacco culture. Much of the text is derived from historical research and interviews conducted in the 1990s by Dr. Prince, Director of the Waccamaw Center for Cultural and Historical Studies at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, SC, and Dr. Robert Simpson, former Chair of the History Department at Coker College in Hartsville, SC.

Henry, a resident of Latta, SC, and graduate of Francis Marion University, has been a professional photography for 25 years. Prince, a native of Loris, SC, is the author of Long Green: The Rise & Fall of Tobacco in South Carolina. Joining Henry and Prince in the project will be Bruce Douglas of Pee Dee Arts as editor and Nate Gulledge, a native of Chesterfield, SC, as designer.

The South Carolina Arts Commission is the state agency charged with creating a thriving arts environment that benefits all South Carolinians, regardless of their location or circumstances. Created by the South Carolina General Assembly in 1967, the Arts Commission works to increase public participation in the arts by providing services, grants and leadership initiatives in three areas: arts education, community arts development and artist development. Headquartered in Columbia, SC, the Arts Commission is funded by the state of South Carolina, by the federal government through the National Endowment for the Arts and other sources.
