Why do women find the phantom of the opera romantic?

Posted by tapsihapsi - January 25th, 2012

I want to know why women find the phantom of the opera romantic, despite the fact that at the beginning of the movie (I’m speaking about the movie specifically with gerard butler, but the actual phantom opera is good reference) the phantom is essentially a stalker and stalks the woman his entire life?

Aren’t women usually anti-stalker? How is that romantic in the slightest way?
